I'm not sure if my dad's parents do that, but I'm going to guess no. They have a chef from France that does their cooking for them. My sister is always dying for something that's junky and good when I visit, so we go out and find a pizza place or go to the meatball restaurant. Pommes frites, sometimes.
[Peace grins back, her own little fangs showing.]
Kind of makes me wish I could show you, because it's really nice back where I'm from.
She lives in France it sounds like. I don't really have any super close family besides my folks. My Mom's side is complicated. Grandpa runs a law firm in Boston. He's kind of a big deal. He refuses to set foot in Belltown where I grew up. The Sheriff back in the day slept with my grandma and encouraged a super scandalous divorce.
[ Annie rolls her eyes. People are weird. ]
I do know Dad wanted me to feel independent so he refused to hire a cook. He wanted me to learn how to take care of myself. I'm... okay at it. I still have accidents. Personally my baking is way better.
My grandma never married. And neither did her mom. In fact, it seems like the trend is to not marry, except for my mom and dad. But they were cultists, and cultists suck.
[Peace wrinkled her nose.]
I never personally put a lot of thought towards it, myself.
[She grinned at Annie and poked her cheek.] I know about your accidents, remember? Rest in peace, those poor pans.
My dad runs a large paper company and my mom is a badass lawyer? She used to do corporate law then stumbled into family law before she left the first firm she worked for.
[ Annie grins showing off her dimples. For an athlete she still has some youthful baby fat in her face. She refuses to go overboard with dieting since it makes no sense. ] You did eventually forgive me for the time I used a kitchen knife to fight a poacher.
Also I did get better. I'm learning new tricks to avoid kitchen mistakes. It helps for my more intense bakes. Tempering chocolate is a bit involved.
Oh yeah, they were like... perfect affluenza-afflicted heirs that decided to throw it all away. Like, my dad's parents own hospitals and work in banking, while my grandmother runs -- er, ran -- an accounting firm for high-yield accounts. They decided to go and like... literally become puritans, if my name didn't give it away.
[And explained her fury regarding cults.
Annie's dimples throw her off and she feels her face run hot. Did she have a thing for dimples now? What the heck??]
I can imagine. I know a bit about baking but I stay away from chocolate. I think I might set it on fire by accident, or scorch it, you know?
[ Still that gives her time to relax. Peace comes from similar wealth. ]
Dad owns a multimillion dollar paper company. He's also on the board of directors for a lumber company. We have more money that we need. I... don't get totally walking away from a legacy though. That's weird. I could never turn my back on what we run. Not entirely anyways.
[ Annie considers that and her dimples go wide as she beams. She has no idea Peace is also struggling with attraction. ]
I should show you how to make a chocolate bowl. I make those and put mousse in them. They sell faster than like, drugs.
[ Annie grins widely showing off a lot of teeth. She is in a playful mood now. ]
Good. It gets too quiet out here. I do escape a lot of chaos, but at the same time I can't seem to keep any housemates. [ Annie shrugs at her admission. ] I guess it's too isolated from the city. I don't mind.
[ Annie laughs at having her nose booped forgetting she had confessed to being lonely. How can she feel like that with Peace around? ]

[Peace grinned, clearly joking.]
Still, that might be fun. We can do it another day. It just gives me a perfectly valid excuse to come out here.
[It'd be nice to spend some time with just the two of them.]
Meanwhile, [Peace booped Annie's nose.] let's just focus on what we have here today. Really live in the moment.

This was such a good idea. Thanks for coming!
