[Altair closed his eye with a deep sigh as he tried and failed to keep the frustration out of his voice.]
Sorry. I'm trying.
[Disrupting electronics was new and unfortunately tied to his mood, which thanks to still being part troll was harder to keep under control. Peace indirectly mentioning Javert seemed to do the trick, or at least his concern for Peace was stronger and the flickering became less frequent.]
You don't have to worry about that. Money isn't a problem.
[Altair had two jobs if you counted the bakery, and he was starting to get more art commissions as Peregrine. Not to mention his secret stash from his art thefts and his hunting nights but Peace didn't know about those.]
I worry, because I want to be sure the people we help have help, a way to start off...
[Peace trailed off and closed her eyes. She scooted closer and pressed herself against Altair as much as she could without losing her concentration and dropping through the floor.]
[Altair glanced down at Peace with a hint of confusion. Helping people felt more like a hassle to him. Although he had to admit it did feel nice, sometimes. His confusion melted into a fond chuckle at the second part and he carefully leaned closer.
His smile fell slightly at her question.]
Probably about a week or so like every other kind of mid month madness in this place.
[A week felt agonizingly long right now though and Altair tried to think of a distraction.]
Not everything about being a shade has to be bad.
[Altair didn't sound very convinced and his voice trailed off as he looked around the room for inspiration. He levitated the first non fragile item he saw into the air and brought it over to Peace with an encouraging smile.]

Right, I should stop worrying.

You are too sweet.
[He leaned down to kiss the top of her head, not caring that he couldn't feel anything.]
But you should save some of that kindness for yourself.

[She chuckled, nerves loosening some.]
How long do you think this is going to last? I can't even pet Sana or Sir Pugsley like this.
